Indian Summer Wardrobe Tips
As I write this, the fog is in… heavy and cold… however, don't put away your summer clothes just yet:
Because before you know it… Indian Summer will be here! It is one of the most beautiful and magical times of the year, all over the world, but especially right here in the S.F. Bay Area. Make plans to head out to one of the many restaurants located on the Marinas in S.F., Emeryville, Oakland, Alameda, Sausalito, and beyond. Be sure to go when it is close to sundown, so you can take in the spectacular sunsets that reflect the essence of the coming of Autumn. Put on that special maxi dress or linen trouser with your romantic color summer top that you have been dying to wear with your new sandals or other summer pieces. Celebrate and dress in whatever makes you feel best as you bask in what nature has to offer, right in your own front yard!
p.s. Don't forget to throw your favorite colored wrap in your purse, for after the sun sets!!!
Hints of What Is Coming for Fall (colors/styles)
~As you may have noticed, yellow and orange both continue strong as major color trends. Both will easily sail into the fall/winter seasons.
~Softly draped jackets (reminiscent of early Armani) designed in refined fabrics, including very fine suede and feminine blouses are popular again.
~WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY IS FINE …period. It is no longer a trend, but a totally accepted fashion option. Particularly PANTS, and even more so jeans. Here is what Christina Binkley of the WSJ said, just yesterday:
"Like a certain type of summer weekend house guest, white jeans are sticking around much longer than anticipated. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The cool-and-easy look of white jeans is easily adaptable to cooler weather, happily breaking old rules that dictated white pants be packed up at summer's end. Citizens of Humanity is bringing white jeans out in its winter line, in colors like "ermine" and "basmati," says Noam Hanoch, the denim brand's designer. A stark-white Citizens jean will be on sales floors in December" (WSJ).
I would also add that you will be seeing a lot more "winter" white wool trouser style pants as well.
Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel
Here is something to look forward to, the release of a new and exiting book about the amazing fashion innovator, Diana Vreeland.
"Called the “High Priestess of Fashion,” Diana Vreeland (1903–1989) was an American original whose impact on fashion and style was legendary. Beginning in 1936, when she became a fashion editor at Harper’s Bazaar, Vreeland established herself as a controversial visionary with an astonishing ability to invent and discover fashion ideas, designers, personalities, and photographers. She was a memorable writer with a vivid personality and a talent for coining aphorisms. Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel chronicles 50 years of international fashion and Vreeland’s rich life. With more than 350 illustrations, including original magazine spreads and many famous photographs, this intensely visual book shows fashion as it was being invented, and how Vreeland shaped American taste through her superb vision" (book summary).
