To Tuck or not to Tuck? That is the question
My long time favorite fashion observer/photographer Bill Cunningham, of the New York Times, recently titled his weekly column Tucked In: "After decades of dressed-down, often disheveled styles, a few men with high antennas are signaling a major new direction: pressed and tailored…Woman have long understood what men's wear tailored for them can do." Even though Bill is talking about men's wear and woman who like to wear a tailored look, the point is that the tucked in look isn't just for suits. Instead of wearing button down shirts, sweaters, t-shirts, and blouses OVER our waist lines, now we are seeing the look of the 70's come back full circle, which is to TUCK IN, as a new option.
To Tuck or not To Tuck, is a question that comes up frequently when I am helping clients put together an updated wardrobe. The old answer was NEVER tuck in, but now tucking gives a fresh new choice.
Check out the photos and note the great range of TUCKING IN:
Attention all high contrast, striking types! Black and white color blocking hit the fashion scene right around pre-election time, particularly in the form of dresses: long sleeves, sleeveless, 3/4 sleeves, high waisted, low waisted, knee length, at the knee or below the knee, worn bare legged or with black tights. Get it while you can or wait until they hit the sales rack, because not everyone can wear this dramatic combination. Except for a true striking type, its a timeless, classic and above all, fun and never boring look!
The Meaning Of Black and White
BLACK: is associated with elegance, sophistication, and sex. It also hints of strength and power.
WHITE: the absence of pigment, is associated with cleanliness, purity, newness, virginity, peace, and innocence. It can also mean quality.
